Here’s what I know. Music has always been there for me in times of need. It's healed me, cheered me up, helped me find a way to communicate my thoughts and feelings, and has always been an outlet of release. The world is tough right now. Human beings are going through some unprecedented times. In between my thoughts of, "Whats happening?," "Are we going to make it?," and "How can I help?," I turn to music. It's an escape. A way to feel “normal" and express myself. To find love and happiness swerving in between verses and choruses and to find sadness and hurt that shows me "I'm not the only one." This week, I am re-introducing ya'll to my "Cover Stories" series. This series is a place for love, for light-hearted happiness, reflection, and nostalgia. I am kicking off the series with a song that came out in 1993, the year I was born: "Hearts Are Gonna Roll" by Hal Ketchum. It's a playful song about a young girl whose parents can slowly see the determination and strength in her eyes. They know she's going to be a tough one to keep a hold of, she'll be a heartbreaker, a dreamer, and headstrong. This young girl is a lot like me. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I have enjoyed—and will continue to enjoy—creating it. I hope you smile, I hope it gives you some respite, some calm, some fun, some connection. I hope you dance, too. You can find the first episode this Wednesday, June 17th, here. With love, Emily
